At RateMyStation, we encourage honest, constructive feedback while maintaining Community Guidelines designed to promote respectful and lawful discussions. If you’re a News Director or Station representative, there are several steps you can take if you disagree with a review or believe it violates our policies.
If you believe a review contains false information, personal attacks, harassment, or otherwise violates our Community Guidelines, you can report it for review.
Simply click the “Report” flag icon located beneath the review.

Our moderation team carefully reviews every reported rating. If we determine that the content violates our Community Guidelines or Terms and Conditions, appropriate action will be taken. If the review does not violate our policies, it will remain on the platform.
One of the most effective ways to address negative feedback is by posting a professional public response.
Registered Station Accounts can respond directly to employee reviews, allowing News Directors and newsroom leadership to:
• Provide additional context
• Clarify factual information
• Acknowledge employee concerns
• Demonstrate professionalism
• Show prospective employees that feedback is taken seriously
Thoughtful responses often leave a stronger impression than simply trying to remove criticism.
One negative review rarely tells the complete story.
We encourage News Directors and Station leadership to invite current and former employees to share honest workplace experiences on RateMyStation.
A larger number of authentic reviews provides a more balanced picture of your newsroom culture, and gives job seekers a broader perspective. As noted in our guidelines, Stations should not review themselves, but encouraging eligible employees to participate is appropriate.
RateMyStation exists to provide media professionals with an opportunity to share honest workplace experiences.
Negative reviews are not removed simply because a Station or News Director disagrees with them.
However, reviews that violate our Community Guidelines or Terms and Conditions may be removed after being reviewed by our moderation team.
Every newsroom has strengths and areas for improvement.
Whether you agree with a review or not, employee feedback can provide valuable insight into workplace culture, leadership, communication, and employee satisfaction.
Many News Directors use employee feedback to identify trends, improve retention, strengthen newsroom culture, and create a better workplace for current and future journalists.
