News Dirctors
Pretty good. They do a lot of clever things which is nice. There's an emphasis on being clever and creative. The ND and especially the Assistant News Director drive the place. For the 11pm the anchor calls a lot of the shots. Beware it's clicky and hyper local. Not many people are from outside the DMA, which is a strength I guess. But at the same time, it means few people have relevant experience from another station or market. It's kind of collegiate. I'd suggest interviewing in person and getting to know some people while in the newsroom. If you are from the area and have big market experience in an entry level role, and accept a position here, you could do very very well.
As a market it seemed a bit expensive, hold out for a bit more money.
Very young, liberal, idealistic, and local. Fairly smart. Not all that "competitive or driven". Grass roots and organized via consensus.

Racial Discrimination, An Overall Toxic Work Environment
Very white, racist, news director does not seem to care about diversity or uplifting others voices in the newsroom.
Save yourself the agony, stay as far away from this station as possible. Not only is it beyond toxic, the managers are absolutely useless, with one watching YouTube videos and movie clips throughout his entire shift. Allison is considered to be incredibly sexist to the women of the newsroom unless you’re a senior anchor who’s good graces can benefit her career. Appalling, abhorrent, do NOT work here.

There was no news director when I was there.
An Overall Toxic Work Environment
Kevin Rafferty, is the text book definition on newsroom toxicity. Once told me to “walk across the street” to 7/11 for mic batteries. Belittled me in front of staff. Cares more about his kids little league baseball than anything else.
Go work for wavy instead
