News Dirctors

Sean Mahon
Rarely communicates with his employees
An Overall Toxic Work Environment
The longer that Sean has been apart of the newsroom, the more of a hands off approach he has. When "breaking-news" happens he is described by other people in the newsroom to stay in his office and not make a decision. This has lead other producers to try and take charge, which then becomes a power issue. In the last week, producers have been yelling at each other about the lack of communication. Sean has recently hired a complete dumb-ass to be the assistant news director. This toxic man has no sense of what is going on in the newsroom. He doesn't train, he talks like he is smarter then you, and will put you down in the process. He focuses on national news at a local news station.
This is an Allen Media Group station. The pay is awful and the PTO time is even worse. Because of the news business in general, this station used to be a 'second-station' is now a reporters first job out of college. First year employees including myself still have to live at home, because we can't afford to rent a place in decent area. The only places to rent in our budget are in the bad parts of Flint.

Jayne Hodak
Very unfriendly, plays favorites, micromanages staff
An Overall Toxic Work Environment
Most of the staff that has been here for some time are set in their ways and complain about the lack of direction from station management. Most are just holding out for retirement and complain about how far the station has fallen. The newer hires are rarely given good assignments and are expected to fill time for lots of newscasts with little regard for good storytelling. Lack of creativity by producers or photographers. Station is located in one of the worst parts of town.
