Al Carl
The news director Al Carl was a puppet for the owner. He was frequently detached from what went on in the newsroom. If an employee had an issue he always sided with management.
Racial Discrimination, Sexual Harassment, An Overall Toxic Work Environment
DuJuan McCoy bought WISH in 2019 and it was all downhill from there. He's the sole owner of the station and rules it like a tyrant. He unsuccessfully sued DirectTV and Dish claiming they racially discriminated against WISH for not carrying the channel. So the station cannot be seen on those providers. The newsroom is miserable. Reporters and producers are burned out and overworked. The recently fired Assistant News Director Brady Gibson verbally abused people in the newsroom out in the open regularly. WISH management ran off the Chief Meteorologist Ashley Brown. Management was constantly hounding Brown on her appearance. They fired her after she questioned the station's treatment of black women. I saw the news director Al Carl browbeat a reporter for calling in sick two days in a row. The assignment desk isn't given any resources and as a result the station is almost always last on major stories and breaking news. Reporters, photogs and producers with years of experience are treated like children. I hated working there.
WISH used to be one of the best stations in the country, but you may as well be working in Bozeman Montana. The station lost its CBS affiliation in 2014 and never recovered. They are fighting with the ABC station to stay out of last place in the ratings. Pay is horrendous, below average for Market 25. Another thing to consider, you'll have to sign a contract with a clause making you pay back 35 percent of the contract's value if you break it. Unless you are on the verge of being homeless and need a paycheck, don't work at WISH.

Brady Gibson
He is the only competent person in the room
An Overall Toxic Work Environment
Buyer beware. Do not come here. Working at this station is as one of the biggest mistakes I’ve ever made. It’s horribly toxic and driven by insane leadership and ownership. You could be much better in this market or with another. About 50 people have left the newsroom in the last two years. There’s a high chance you will get fired for crossing the owner and viewers have started to notice. Look up DuJuan McCoy it’s a lot to work here.
