Marybeth Jacoby
Toxic
Racial Discrimination
WIS is the absolute most toxic place I have ever worked. If you’re thinking about coming to this station, being offered a job, etc. Please do your mental health a favor and look elsewhere. I’m currently experiencing a mental breakdown just thinking about having to return to that hell hole tomorrow. No one is happy there. Especially with our new News Director, Marybeth Jacoby, and General Manager, Robby Thomas. They care absolutely nothing about their employees. Don’t let the initial facade fool you. Marybeth is a complete narcissist who overworks her reporters, publicly embarrasses them, and gives them no concrete guidance on what she wants, but expects you to complete everything she’s thinking in her crazy head. I’m counting down the days until my contract is up. During a morning editorial meeting we were discussing a story about a teacher (male) who was arrested and charged for sex with a student. Marybeth did not want to pursue the story because she said and I quote “she (the student) probably wanted it” mind you, that student, was a 15-year-old boy. Robby was told about this incident by another employee and he did nothing about it. No repercussions, no email addressing the matter, NOTHING. This is just one of many incidents. Within her first three months of being there, she’s already had six employees complain about her to our in house HR person. Still nothing has been done. She has created a toxic work environment for everyone there.
Don’t work here.

Brad Hyatt
Newsroom Bully
An Overall Toxic Work Environment
Brad is unorganized, manipulative, and lazy. There are many other negative adjectives to describe him. Everyone talks negatively about him. Brad barely shows up to work, and when he does, he sits in his office all day. Brad is unaware of what's going on in the newsroom. We've lost so many good people due to his ignorance and lack of commitment. Brad blames people for his errors and is openly disrespectful to people in the newsroom. No one respects him as a leader.
For the most part, everyone gets along with each other, but the newsroom would be more successful without Brad. Lyle Schulze is the general manager and seems to turn his head the other way when it comes to Brad. I do not recommend signing a contract at this station under their leadership.
