It’s a great starter market. You’ll work incredibly hard for two years, but it prepares you for whatever you want to do next. The management style isn’t for everyone, but if you meet expectations and don’t cause trouble, you’ll be fine.

This station has very little talent left as everyone has quit and the pay is so low that they can’t find anyone. Very toxic work environment with cliquey managers that will yell at you in front of the entire newsroom and talk about about you behind your back. AVOID THIS STATION AT ALL COSTS

Do not come here, it is a terrible place to work. You will work three jobs for $15 an hour

News Channel 20 has a revolving door of employees due to miserable managers. This is the first station I’ve worked at that goes months without a single reporter or live shot. WICS has so many job openings that sports and weather are now forced to anchor shows. News Director,Mike Truett has severe little man syndrome with a reputation of being dishonest, vindictive and verbally abusive.He is incapable of admitting when he is wrong and focused on Sales so you won’t get much feedback from him anyway.The Assistant News Director,Kelsey Evans resents letting herself blow up to 500lbs so she picks on other women in the office.Evans made the news room hell by always smacking on Popeyes and shouting at producers.The Web Manager,A.J Bailey is disliked by everyone almost immediately.She holds the station brand back because no one can stand working with her.Executive Producer,Morgan Simpson was recently outed for being a creep towards a younger employee so be careful.Start your career at a station with enough employees to train you properly and provide support.

Credible journalist don’t work for Sinclair.

This station was below average but now it’s just a complete embarrassment.Management takes frustrations from their homes and uses it as fuel to go off on people.Mike has run off so much staff that sports and weather are now anchoring shows.He switched the schedule of morning and evening anchors just to get by.The assistant news director uses her obesity as an excuse to yell like a hippo across the newsroom instead getting off her fat ass. The web manager sucks so bad that every time they hire a new assistant for her the person ends up quitting a few weeks later.The station didn’t train me much on producing but I managed.I recommend taking a job at WAND which has stronger staff and better resources.

Avoid a certain manager that likes to hit on photogs but sabotage producers.

Don’t come here.Almost everyone is battling mentally and they use it as an excuse to be passive aggressive.The current management is being watched by Sinclair because so many people have quit.

The station is toxic unlike any other station I’ve worked for. Years ago it was a great starter market but once Mike came in it crashed and burned. Sinclair is a GOP funded company pushing their agenda in every story, Mike is a puppet yes man, he made several gross and sexual comments about female employees and once referred to a new anchor hire as “desk candy.” As well as saying no one cared what she wore because “who would want her to cover up.” Mike yelled at reporters till they cried, barely lets Photogs and Reporters work together, demanded extra hours while discouraging overtime. One coworker was harassed for being a single mom and he couldn’t have cared less about it, even when the employee left her for own safety, he would tarnish her reputation for being a “quitter.”

This used to be a great starting station, but Mike and Sinclair have buried it. Lots of great hardworking people are there, who are decent and just want to do a good job. But corporate overreach and micromanaging are killing it.
