I deeply regret my decision to come here. Chris Swope is not a bad person, but he is an awful leader. Every problem that the newsroom has starts from the top down. Turn over is ridiculous. People don’t want to stay here. Morale is low, he doesn’t nip the petty gossip in the bud, our stories suck. He doesn’t know our viewers nor does he try to learn them. Content is dry. By the time I leave there will be at least 30 people who haven’t resigned or quit all together in my 2 years here. Whenever Chris Swope is, run. If you’re looking for a boss who runs the newsroom, actually watches the shows, gives you the feedback you need to be a journalist, you need to keep looking. News is no place for passive bosses with no back bone. We need leaders. Chris Swope is not a leader.
