A great person to work with — listens and takes you seriously, and takes the station seriously too
An Overall Toxic Work Environment
The way some people talk about each other is brutal.
It’s a great station but it has its issues. Producers have to fill a LOT of time. On weekdays we have live local content on air almost nonstop from 11am to 8pm. Earlier shows are tough to find content for. Reporters are fantastic. Studio is automated, so creativity is limited but encouraged. Derby Day is hectic but a lot of fun.

Jenelle Shriner
Horrific
An Overall Toxic Work Environment
WAVE had decent camaraderie and workflow until Jenelle Shriner took over as ND. Since then she’s never in the newsroom and is hiring kids with no experience and then not training them or offering any guidance to both newbies and tenured vets. It’s like being in market 150 all over again.
Louisville is a fantastic city and WAVE overall has friendly faces - but while Jenelle Shriner remains as the nonexistent leader who defers all responsibility to those below her - don’t join the team.

Dan Fabrizio
ND is petty and uninspiring, takes any slight indifference to his ideas as personal challenges to his reputation and the station in his short tenure in position
An Overall Toxic Work Environment
MMJs not encouraged to do anything beyond following the ND's line of what quality reporting is, regardless of how realistic or safe those ideas are. Any opinions beyond those are unwelcome and staff regularly feel uncomfortable speaking up.
