Absolutely toxic. DO NOT COME HERE. Expectations are not clear, management does not focus on the actual issues, and everyone is pitted against each other.
An Overall Toxic Work Environment
Multiple people fired due to a hotheaded news director.
Don’t come here unless you want to be yelled at and feel worthless.

Jerry Goodman
Interesting
An Overall Toxic Work Environment
The current news director Jerry Goodman has a thing for young gullible female journalists (Check the website's talent list). From producers to reporters, be cautious. He is a fake overly positive person and often likes to play the "friendly, cool" news director that will throw you under the bus. Be cautious with accepting his offers to "drinks" and "lunch" on his dime. Also, don't be too quick to tell him about your complaints and personal life. Go to work and go home. This a good training ground, but he is also learning how to do his own job as a news director and can be scatter brained. Vet him and other talent before accepting a position. Not a horrible place but he can be strange and make you uncomfortable sometimes.
Albany, Georgia is very isolated and it takes about 45 minutes to get to a major highway. If you're a social person that enjoys going out, this isn't a good place for you.

The news director is toxic and has fired multiple people even only working there for a short time. If he treats you poorly, speaking up will only get you fired.

Jerry Goodman
TOXIC
Sexual Harassment, An Overall Toxic Work Environment
If you are a female news reporter, run far away from this station. You will experience sexual harassment, inappropriate behavior/advances, from this news director in some way shape or form. Jerry Goodman is not qualified for this position and lacks strong news judgment. Will pit employees against each other and lie about the workplace environment for his own benefit. If you are a new grad looking for your first job please do not come here you will lose your excitement and zest for the industry.
Management was of no help when reporting negative behavior and they will turn on you and say their actions are your fault. There is also a lack of organization and camaraderie in the news room ever since new management started. Candace McHan the Assistant News Director is extremely unqualified for her position and somehow has found time to be on air while she's supposed to help run the newsroom but offers little to no assistance. She runs through HR meetings more than anything and has a problem with almost every employee of color. They will make a lot of false promises to get you in the job but you will be overworked and gaslit if you ever express concern about it. Very toxic work environment.
