She's truly one of the worst bosses you could ask for. She's talks to everyone like they are idiots and she clearly has no life. News is her life and she expects you to be on the clock 24/7. Talking to her is like talking to a robot with no feelings. It's painful and she makes you hate coming in to work. Here's a fun game. Have a conversation with her and count the number of times she makes eye contact with you. Here's a hint... it won't be very many. Overall, she's created a very toxic newsroom. It used to be so fun to work there but she's actually made it so unpleasant that people constantly quit and even leave the business so they don't have to spend any more time talking to her.
An Overall Toxic Work Environment
98% of the issues stem from terrible management. That starts with the General Manager. He's never shy when it comes to bringing up his wealth. That includes daily mentions of his lake house, which he infamously boasted about during a station meeting shortly after dozens of people were fired. He's also not shy about his new cars. He recently had one delivered to the station parking lot where he got in plenty of time showing it off for some of the station's sales reps. He's very close to sales and it shows. While the newsroom puts in hard work to make a product viewers want to see -- he and sales happily reap the rewards. His relationship with the sales team borders on inappropriate. His relationship with the News Director also borders on inappropriate. She openly talks to him poorly and he doesn't say anything to stand up for himself. It's very clear that she is the real one in charge of the station.

She’s power-stricken. Everything has to be her idea and if it’s not, she won’t agree to it. She’s unorganized and doesn’t communicate well. Expects reporters to give their life for the job but doesn’t give back in return. Not only is she just a mean person, her story selection is horrible. Always wanting catch a “gotcha” moment or “expose” something that isn’t a story at all. She has no work-life balance for herself and expects that for her staff.
An Overall Toxic Work Environment
It’s a Gray station, so I’m not sure what more you’d need to know. Management report to upper, corporate management. It’s understaffed, everyone is miserable and overworked.
Don’t work here. It’s so sad. It used to be a top notch station that did so much for the community. But under the current management, it’s lost all that luster.

Scatterbrained, hard to talk to, doesn't care about her employees.
An Overall Toxic Work Environment
This station has been subject to the trend of the industry: CUTS. It was the best station in the area to work for. Now, after numerous layoffs, there is no investing of resources, only a desire to save time and money at the expense of the product. Reporters are expected to MMJ constantly, even if they feel unsafe. I felt like no one cared about me as an individual, they only cared about the bottom line and if the station was making money.
The GM, Brian McDonough, cares more about supplying his lake house with fancy TVs than he does his employees' well-being. Steer clear. I couldn't get out of there fast enough.
