My experience with that man was HORRIBLE. This is the most petty man I have ever met. Brett is over 50 years old with 2 kids and divorced, but yet he acts like a kid himself. Brett also has an issue with black women. Based on what corporate told everyone, Brett had to take anger management for yelling and berating a young black female journalist. Do not trust this man. He likes to bully, harass, stalk your social media pages, and block you from career advancement.
Sexual Discrimination, Racial Discrimination, An Overall Toxic Work Environment
The overall working environment at KTXS is toxic and racist. The people who work there have an issue with race, particularly with black people. If you make one mistake as a black person at KTXS, you will forever have a target on your back. The newsroom is also very click-ish and the news direct, who is over the age of 50, participates in the gossip. I have witnessed someone almost being physically assaulted inside the newsroom. It is truly an unprofessional environment because of the New Director. DO NOT COME HERE. I don't care how bad you want to get your foot in the door, they will try to block and stop you if you want to advance. Also, if you mind your business and do your job, that won't matter. The people who work here will make up lies on you and take it to management just because they don't like you. They will nitpick at your work and try to sabotage you at any chance you get. They don't care about your mental health or the emotional trauma that they cause you. This station is known for treating black people and other people of color very poorly. DO NOT COME HERE.
This station condones violence, bullying, harassment, racial discrimination, gender discrimination, etc. If you file a complaint, HR and Corporate (Shannon Galloway) will gaslight you, and make it seems as if you are the problem. Since I've been at KTXS, I have seen several HR representatives up and quite out of nowhere. They cannot keep their employees because the environment is beyond toxic.
