Not qualified to be a news director. Very discriminatory and plays favorites. Unrealistic ideas and very aloof about what actually goes on in her own newsroom.
Sexual Discrimination, An Overall Toxic Work Environment
A lot of management has worked together for years and they hang together. Most are not qualified for their positions. News director has no real news background and no concept of how to run a newsroom. Former executive producer couldn't tell you the sky is blue yet is continually promoted to other leadership roles. Severe lack of communication amongst management. If you're not a favorite and not in "the clique" you're not considered for any type of advancement and are kept out of other jobs or opportunities you're interested in. Some reporters are expected to work extra hours and turn stories for each show while others do absolutely nothing with no repurcussions. Concerns taken to management go nowhere. Quality of work is usually great and many on the team are good to work with but poor management and entitled employees make it very toxic.
While there are some good and talented people on staff, the "clique" of egotistical and entitled employees and management make it hard for those on the "outside" to get anywhere. There were a lot of people that left around the same time I did and a lot of their long time staff left as well for similar issues.

She’s a web aficionado Made news director. Web is thriving while TV is floundering. She’s indecisive and plays favorites. Unless you’re from Idaho or planning on living in Idaho forever, you will be ostracized from the inner sanctum.
An Overall Toxic Work Environment
Management hangs in a clique because they’ve been working with each other for 20 years. So, unless you’re in their in-crowd, you won’t get the good stories, or access to station resources. Retaliation is also common in this newsroom for personal issues.
Again, unless you plan on staying. Boise forever, it’s not worth uprooting your life. There is better experience elsewhere.
