Good guy. I didn’t have any problems with Iain.
Just about the best engineering and IT that I’ve ever experienced. The engineers fix stuff and stuff usually (if not always) works. The IT department is on top of everything. If you report a work station as having problems or giving error messages or needing updates, you’ll see IT there later that day or the next. In addition, the desk at KRQE was super efficient and made most everything easy. Most of the talent was super cool. Added bonuses; rents and entertainment are cheap and getting around the city and covering stories is easy. Just beware, in the summer it is hotter than heck in the day, at outdoor pressers camera people pick shady spots to set up, but at night it cools off nicely. One downside, last I knew photogs don’t edit, there are editor who cut it all, the whole show, so if you’re a photog who’s looking to edit working here can be problematic. One other sticking point, the next closest major city is Denver, a six hour drive. But in general I have a ton of respect for Nexstar and KRQE. How many markets at or near 50 still have a helicopter

There's a reason people are fleeing this station left and right: management
An Overall Toxic Work Environment
The management at KRQE is absolutely unacceptable. Talented, motivated journalists (producers included) and meteorologists are dropping like flies at this shop because of how poorly they are treated by superiors. The long-time talent are the only ones treated well -- and they are allowed to speak/act in a completely unprofessional manner to/around the younger staff members. It's a mess. If you're looking for genuine mentoring and a leader of the people, Mr. Munro is not your guy.
The 'never settle' attitude of the newsroom is KRQE's only praise-worthy quality. Reporters/MMJs are pushed incredibly hard to find enterprise news stories the competition won't have -- and they develop a crucial skill set to turn in-depth daily stories that would likely be an investigative piece in any other market. You'll learn a lot... just learn quickly and take your talents to a place where you won't be treated like garbage.
