Zoltan Csanyi Salcedo
He was professional. He would rarely be in the newsroom and not on top of assignments. He would contradict himself when it came to stories and coverage. He's not one to give feedback unless you ask him.
An Overall Toxic Work Environment
I never felt valued as a reporter or person during my time there. Managers tear you apart instead of working with you to help you grow as a journalist. There is a photographer who is known to have a bad temper and is aggressive toward reporters ( I was one of them) -- He made me miss stories, would make faces when I was going live, etc. When I went to management with documentation of all the harassment from him, Zoltan was like, "You know how he is..." and all they did twas move him to another shift but no real consequences. One thing to note is to not trust HR -- they care more about station than it's employees. Many people from both sides (E&S) quit due to the toxic environment.
The market is a great place to learn -- a Reporter's school if you will. You will learn a lot out in the field,
will cover WX, Immigration, Breaking news, Education, health you name it. The only perk from KRGV is that they are the only station in the market to pair you with a photographer daily.

Awful
Sexual Harassment, An Overall Toxic Work Environment
You will be yelled at, belittled and intimidated when ever an issue arises. The people working under him especially in the Spanish department have no tact to ask for thing. They demand and are always gossiping. Horrible.
Run.

Career loser, does nothing. He and his underlings Angie Martinez and John Cavazos shouldn't even be working here. Bad all around.
Racial Discrimination, An Overall Toxic Work Environment
The station covers up for attacks on non-Spanish-speaking workers. Spanish-speaking dominates. This is an unsafe work environment. Listen to the others and stay away.
You aren't missing much with this station. The talent is bad, people are just sitting around and the product is worthless on a demo.

Jenny Martinez
News director hardly shows up to work to give you feedback on your on air talent and she always lies to your face. Do not believe a word she says.
An Overall Toxic Work Environment
Jenny will sweet talk you into joining the company but she lies about everything. She will tell you that you can grow and become an anchor but once you sign the contract they do what they please. They tell you that they will have you do Spanish stories "AS NEEDED" but it's an everyday thing doing double work for English and spanish stories. One of the female producers is always yelling and talking trash behind your back. Do not work here. The assistant news director is very unorganized and just sits in his office and watches wrestling. He is very clueless and makes a news story more difficult than what it should be and you can't miss him from a mile away.
Jenny the news director is always gone for months and shows up for a few weeks then leaves again for a few more months. You never get feedback from her about your on air talent. And she always lies to your face.

Jenny Martinez
She can't handle her job anymore. She has way to much on her plate that she forgets things constantly.
An Overall Toxic Work Environment
This station is a toxic work place. Some of the producers ask for unrealistic work to get done with unreasonable amount of time. The news director lies to everyone. If you do some research you will see that they have a very high turnover rate. They are number 1 station in the market but they pay like a number 2 station. This is a station that is very unorganized. Some of the producers think they know everything when they have no idea what it is like to be a reporter trying get a story done. They should at least make producers aware of how it is to work in the field. During the morning meeting if they don't like ur pitched story they don't try to help or tell you why they didn't like the pitched story idea. In Addition, they pay the Spanish team better than the English employees even though you are bilingual. They even expect the bilingual employees to work double (Spanish stories) but pay them less than the Spanish team. Sometimes you leave the morning meeting around 11am and by that time most officials are out to lunch and then you are left trying to get your story last minute because the producers want content. Do not work at this station.
They tell you what they want you to hear to get you hired but once you get in with a contract you are stuck until the contract is over. If you really need to work at this station only sign up for a 2 year contract. But you will probably want to leave after working 6 months or less at this station.
