Trash. He belittles, berates and calls people out in emails to the entire newsroom.
An Overall Toxic Work Environment
Managers will actually rip you a new ass hole for anything, but also hire people who just left for college. If you're not on-air, you're making less than 75. If you're on air, you're in the six figure range! So, good for you, but in Seattle - 70k is barely enough to rent out a 300 sq foot closet to live in. Ana Marie, the EP, once told a temporary producer "it's what you're worth" when talking about a lowball offer the station gave the TEMP - this was in front of other coworkers. Everyone is overworked, underappreciated and it takes about 4-12 months to hire anyone to replace people when they leave. Reporters can legit do everything they're asked to, but still get a 'be better' email or text. Management will tell you you're up for a promotion or considered for a job only to ignore you for a few months here and there. BUT - If you're young and wanna risk moving to a big city for a little paycheck, KOMO is the place because they know they can't pay so they'll 100 percent offer you with little to no experience:)
I was once told to lie about my job title as to not piss off a union.
