Don't get me wrong there are some nice and friendly people here, but the management is very toxic. Some days are better than others but at times there were no communication between managers and other staff leaving producers like me to fill in the gaps.
Racial Discrimination, An Overall Toxic Work Environment
I was more so picked on for mistakes made in producing but other coworkers were not and being the only hispanic person there it did not feel right. Anchors gossiped a lot specifically about the reporters and their stories but never would say it to their faces.
Again, there are nice people here but the management needs management itself.

If you commit to joining this news team, sign yourself up for mental health services immediately. The news director ended up leaving after 17 years and the current management is unorganized and unprofessional. The assignment manager texts you on your days off to find stories for the show and if you have vacation days off, be prepared to turn news stories even though you are off the clock. The station coins themselves as “family” which is a major red flag because certain things are okay with some employees while other things are not with others. Last, the station does not care about safety of MMJs, I was sent out (a female) by myself to get interviews with truck drivers at a gas station and was cat called and hit on inappropriately…but at least I got the soundbite right?
An Overall Toxic Work Environment
The morning anchors are huge gossipers and would rather talk about a mistake in your package than offer you constructive criticism on how to fix it. This news room has no structure at all even more so now that the News Director is no longer working there. Stay clear
This station does not care about their employees or their safety. MMJs are sent out to cover early AMs breaking news of house fires by themselves in the dark.
If you refuse being overworked, management will guilt you and get upset.

Poor. Does not cultivate young journalists.
An Overall Toxic Work Environment
Management does not address concerns brought forward by employees. They merely listen then do nothing.
Was never repaired with the photog.

Lack of leadership, very inconsistent, friendly
Sexual Discrimination
Male talent and producers were paid more. If you were single and had no kids you were taken advantage of in scheduling and expected to be there (making less than at the local grocery store) even if you were scheduled to be off.
If you do your job, beware! You’ll be picking up the slack for everyone who chooses to do nothing around the newsroom or the bare minimum. Don’t get me wrong, there are some great people here but leadership is lacking and good employees are often taken advantage of. The news director would rather have you do the work than actually discipline his employees. They pay you JUST above the amount that would qualify you for food stamps... After struggling to make ends meet here for years they wouldn’t let me out of my contract even a month early to go make a real living. Luckily my current station was able to wait. Did several turn around shifts which compromised my health. Do not recommend.

Great, he really treats you like family
I would suggest not coming if you are not open minded. This is the middle of Nebraska and we are mostly small towns so not alot of restaurants and shops but if you want a great place that loves you and has your back no matter what then this is the place for you.
