An Overall Toxic Work Environment
Colleen will break you. She treats producers like human wastebaskets to dump additional work on. The only time I've ever seen her check herself is after someone has had a nervous breakdown. There have been several incidents. However, her bad habits always return. She also likes to go around and pick at her employees. She doesn't communicate what she wants until last minute. She expects her staff to execute her wishes with very little notice. She is also a liar. She brought in a candidate for one of the positions in the sports department. The candidate had applied to our open Sports Director position. That's what he came here to interview for. When he arrived, she told him the job was the sports reporter position. It was a position that was currently filled. Nobody understands what she did that for.
Run.
The pay is very poor. The station's practices will include locking you into a 3-year contract where they pay you the bare minimum. There is a very small incremental raise at the 1.5 year mark. They will tout this like it's a big deal.

Awful
Racial Discrimination, An Overall Toxic Work Environment
I've only ever seen two black people working here. One left for another market and the other quit the business entirely. Both have submitted complaints of racism that were pretty much ignored. I actually witnessed a couple of the incidents and reported them. People act like they care, but nobody was terminated from those incidents. Just slaps on the wrist. Producers and MMJs are underpaid and overworked. We had an outbreak of COVID-19 in January of 2022. While I was waiting for the results of my COVID PCR Test, my assistant news director said, "This working from home thing isn't gonna work...." However, my test results were positive and they came in that day so I stayed home. I had an allergic reaction after I recovered from COVID-19. I tried to call out, but my assistant news director didn't want me to because 'it wasn't an emergency'. My managers have put themselves first over and over again. There is no support for the producers. We are basically just human wastebaskets to dump work on. The morning executive producer quit. However, management keeps throwing up new producers up to mornings when they aren't ready. I do my best to support them on this shift, but there is only so much I can do when I have my own show to produce.
