Jim Lemon
Average at best, nice man and easy to approach. Seemed mentally checked out let our news content manager run the show.
KEYT is a great starter station. Unique small market close to Los Angeles with an opportunity to interview celebrities, cover wildfires and learn from veteran journalists who have been working in the market for 20+ years. Pay is low for such an expensive place to live, which is the main reason why talent leaves. MMJ's are asked to do a lot (PKG's, VOSOTs, Web, Social, Etc.) with very little help from assignment desk. Everyone in the newsroom is very friendly, helpful and ready to mentor young journalists.

Station market rank#1

Lindsey Zuchelli, former EP
Places a priority on having a warm body in front of a camera as opposed to storytelling or logistics. Doesn't care about the employee's safety or well being. Does little to assist with mentoring or supporting staff. The epitome of do more with less.
Sexual Discrimination, An Overall Toxic Work Environment
The newsroom is rife with favoritism and sexism. There are no standards or expectations clearly set, and staff and leadership are rarely held accountable. Everyone is just trying to survive and is miserable. Newsroom is always extremely short-staffed, which then falls on the people that are there to pick up the slack. MMJ's are constantly put in positions where their safety is compromised. Consistently worked 12 hour days without access to a restroom or a meal break.
After over a decade in the business, this is the station that pushed my mental health to the brink. I would rather be unemployed than work here. Employee turnover is extremely high. News Director Jim Lemon is a weak, ineffective and treacherous leader and that toxicity trickles down.

An Overall Toxic Work Environment
Hard to advance and everyone hates being there
Do not recommend to people just starting out in the business - many of my fellow coworkers have now quit the business because of the experience at this station. Better for someone who knows the behavior is not normal!
