Awful, he doesn’t back his employees against an overbearing and controlling general manager who is focused on cheapness as opposed to quality. They bring in kids out of college or even non-college graduates who don’t know how to tie their shoes, let alone tell a story. The combo has wrecked a once proud station, and dropped the content quality in the process. Now, they’ve destroyed the morning show team, less than two years after they were at the top of the rankings.
Sexual Harassment, An Overall Toxic Work Environment
The environment is toxic and almost everyone was trying to leave. They’ve been through four main anchors in 6 years, and recently let one’s contract expire after he sexually harassed his co-anchor, who was too afraid to say anything because it was common knowledge the GM himself left his last employer due to the same circumstances. You also had cases of employees having sex in news vehicles and missing stories, reporters staying home and not doing their work but making photogs do it, and vindictive employees looking to stab each other in the back to one up each other. It was a combination of House of Cards and Game of Thrones. The also let go one of the top storm chasers in the country, saying he was “too expensive.”

the female evening anchor is a perpetually mad, racist diva. she is openly jealous of younger women at the station and always feels compelled to "put a younger woman in her place", with plenty of racism if you happen to be a woman of color. calls herself the station "mom" as an excuse to be openly demeaning and belittling to anyone younger than her. AND/ Desk is a sexist grouch who has multiple complaints of sexual harassment against him. he constantly makes creepy comments to and about women in the newsroom and creates a frat boy like environment with the other douchey males in the building. i heard a master control operator make a lewd comment about a young female anchor during a show. he then ran into the control room next door and told everyone present not to report him. he also regularly yelled at people and threatened to report them to hr for simply having their phones in the control booth, which were necessary for communication during the show. sexist and racist jokes and comments were regularly made about viewers, people in the community, employees and directly to my face all the time.
they will use lots of love bombing (flying you out, dinners, hotel stays, excessive compliments and fake nice behavior. which is extra creepy if you think about the optics of a young woman doing all of this with her middle aged boss. locals even made lewd comments about what we "looked like" during that process. gross.) -- just to get you sign the contract. then you spend every waking hour of that miserable job waiting for your sentence to end. yelling, miscommunications, arguments, and bullying were very common. huge, huge egos for such a struggling, low market station in an undesirable location. you are overworked to the extreme and terrorized if they think you don't you dont look happy enough about it. if you are a white nepotism hire, you have free range to be unprofessional, rude, catty, racist, and utterly unqualified for a job in journalism. if a poc -- prepare to be mocked, bullied, pranked, micromanaged, harassed and subject to constant racism and harassment that even continues years after you leave. double if you are better than the white nepo hires or from an area where they aspire to work.
