Kristin Hodges
Kristin Hodges does not know how to lead employees. She does not hold anyone to the same standard, she even says different people should be held to different standards based on their abilities. So if someone is bad at their job, she just lowers her standard for them instead of training them and demanding more of them. Good employees end up having to pick up the clack for crappy employees who don’t deserve to even have their jobs. She won’t fire anyone, even if they get a DWI and come in everyday and just walk around, she’s adamant that she needs the bodies to make her look like she’s doing a decent job. Hiring new employees quick as she can to fill positions and have more warm bodies, even when they have no experience and no ability to do the job. Won’t help train, just wants warm bodies locked into contracts. When those bodies don’t fulfill their job duties, she lets it slide because she knows the hard working individuals in the newsroom will handle it, because if they don’t, she’ll scream at them for not completing a job that isn’t theirs to do. Don’t work here, it’s miserable.
Sexual Discrimination, Sexual Harassment, An Overall Toxic Work Environment
We are all bullied and harassed but when concerns are raised you get shunned by upper management like you’ve personally offended them somehow. Have also heard Kristin says she specifically wants men/women or black/white when hiring for positions to keep the newsroom even, so even if there’s a great black woman as a candidate, if she’s decided she wants a white man, she’ll take a white man who’s far less qualified just to fill her quota. Then everyone wonders why half the newsroom is incompetent.
Don’t waste your time

Kristen Hodges
the worst. id rather eat glass than work for this woman for another day
Racial Discrimination, An Overall Toxic Work Environment
This toxic hell hole genuinely made me depressed. The leadership can be best described as horrific. Our director will frequently discourage any over time with the excuse of not wanting us to 'burn out' and to 'prioritize mental health' yet her incompetence is what burns me out from the moment I walk into the office. This woman is spineless and will let the laziest employees do whatever they want. The most hard working and best employees are constantly expected to pick up slack and their work is never acknowledged. She has the worst judgment, pitches story ideas that not even the dumbest people would find interesting, has an inappropriate and public friendship with an employee which is shoved into everyone's faces constantly as they sit in her office laughing and chatting for up to an hour at a time almost every day. If anyone even remotely 'questions her' while she is in a bad mood she will pout like a child. Her assistant director CJ Sartor is no better and I am convinced these two women might share a single brain cell. Neither of them can lead and seem quite bitter. I am also very sure these women are both racists but try to constantly prove otherwise through virtue signaling. They will preach equality yet it is obvious they have always had an issue with the black female employees (who often speak up for themselves in an industry and news station that has historically put them down). If you are a young reporter looking to start out I HIGHLY encourage you to do it literally anywhere else. You will not be properly trained and the stories we cover are literal garbage. I can confidently say the only real news we cover is when there is breaking news and even then the incompetence of our director and assistant director usually finds a way to f*ck that up too. Also our equipment is all horrible which affects any and all chances of building a decent reel so that you can leave and find somewhere better. KNOE is the taco bell of the news standard. It's 'news' but it is not quality and it is not worth wasting your time on. Much like eating taco bell, KNOE will have you sitting on a toilet wondering why you made such a horrible mistake. To finish this up, there are a few outstanding workers here in all departments, but the leadership is so bad I am begging you, go start your career somewhere you can truly thrive. Unless you are seeking to do sports, our sports director is phenomenal and you won't have to deal with the stupidity of the news director.
Monroe is a dangerous city which means covering crime is constant but they CAN and WILL send you to stories in rough areas or to active crime scenes BY YOURSELF. No one should work here if you value your mental and physical health.

Terrible. Doesn’t respect people who have ideas different than her. Can’t lead. Can’t manage. Can’t make a proper schedule. Acts like a bird when it comes to anything changing and not her way. When faced with bullying situations and harassment in the workplace they didn’t do anything about it. Severely toxic environment
Sexual Discrimination, Racial Discrimination, An Overall Toxic Work Environment
Had higher ups scream at our faces and when we went to the GM or Hr Nothing was done about it. When a false sexual accusation went around nothing was done. Didn’t even talk to the person that spread the false allegation to keep a body. When trying to hire someone kristin asked “is he white because I want a white reporter.”
do not work here.

Brad Ginsberg
Toxic, unsupported
Racial Discrimination, An Overall Toxic Work Environment
Any journalist who wants to excel in this industry...I suggest you run far away from this station. Brad Ginsberg is incompetent as a news director and the newsroom is always severely understaffed. Brad rewards the mediocre white women in the newsroom with opportunities due to favoritism and silences the concerns and needs of other employees. He enables the employees he favors to feel as if they have more authority in this newsroom than they do. This is also his first position in leadership and it shows. There is an insufficient amount of equipment for all of the reporters. This is not the kind of environment where you should go if you want to feel supported and grow.

Horrible, Toxic.
An Overall Toxic Work Environment
All of the negative reviews about this station are accurate. Management does not communicate well with employees and this newsroom is run by incompetent management. Toxic work environment. This newsroom is always severely understaffed because people resign. The news director Brad Ginsberg has no experience and it shows. He does not know how to communicate with employees and does not treat all employees equally. He has also burnt bridges with many key contacts throughout the city. Run far away.

Horrible
Sexual Discrimination, An Overall Toxic Work Environment
Brad kept his newsroom extremely understaffed to save a buck to look good in the eyes of corporate. The meteorologists were extremely overworked, as were the rest of the staff. But during the peak of severe weather there were only 2 mets on staff and we were working 6-7 day weeks on very little sleep. He would constantly promise things to separate individuals, but then turn around and recant the statement. He was clearly intimidated by women and would rarely look them in the eye.
Brad Ginsberg and Laura Long, the station manager are struggling to keep the station afloat. Over 25 people have left due to their poor management. They severely underpay their employees and due to being short staffed constantly, all their employees are extremely overworked. I was hired as a weekend met but was doing the work of both the weekend and the morning met, but was not receiving that pay of such. When I asked for just a slight pay raise I was essentially laughed out of the room. On my last day there I was told that I was not experienced enough, nor good enough to be a morning meteorologist. Yet they were clearly in no rush to find what they deemed an experienced met.
The chief meteorologist, who had been with the station for many years, was essentially forced out because he had maxed out his PTO and Comp days and they refused to pay him for the days he worked.
Brad is now forcing anyone he hires to sign a contract before they arrive at the station because no one wants to stay once they arrive.
Until the current management is ousted, stay away from this station.
